Checking In

You can check into the Inn any time after 3:00 pm. Late check-in is not a problem, since Scott and Ariane live at the Inn, but if you plan to arrive later than 10:00 pm, please let us know as soon as possible and we will discuss late check-in arrangements with you.

Early check-in (from 1:00 pm onwards) is sometimes available – we will do our best to accommodate your request. If you arrive in town before check-in, you are always very welcome to come to the Inn and spend time in our sitting rooms or in the gardens and grounds until your room is ready – coffee, tea, cookies and restrooms are always available!

Arriving at the Inn

When you arrive, please park outside the main front entrance of the Inn (the second driveway as you come up Valley View Road), and enter the Inn through the front door to the Reception Office. We will check you in, show your through the Inn and take you to your room. We are always available to help with luggage. Once you are settled in, please move your car down to the main parking area, so as to make room for other guests or deliveries at the main entrance.

Checking Out

Please check out of your room no later than 11:00 am. Late check-out (up until 12 noon) is sometimes available – we will do our best to accommodate your request. If you plan to leave the area later in the day, you are always very welcome to check out of your room at the usual time and spend time in our sitting rooms or in the gardens and grounds – coffee, tea, cookies and restrooms are always available, and we can store your luggage until you are ready to leave.

Please leave your key either in your room or at the Reception Office, or provide it to one of us – but please don’t take your room key home!

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you need help or information.

There is free, fast Wi-Fi everywhere at the Inn and the password is deerhill. If you have trouble connecting, we will be glad to help. Your cellphone may not work reliably at the Inn, however you can always make calls over our Wi-Fi network.

If you like to smoke, you may do so in the garden and grounds or on your porch/deck provided no other guests are inconvenienced and smoke will not drift indoors. Please ask us for an ashtray. Vermont law prohibits smoking anywhere inside lodging properties.

We normally lock the front door of the Inn overnight. If you arrive or return late, you will need the four-digit door code to unlock the door – you will find this on the back of your room key. If you have any difficulty, call us on 802-464-3100 or ring the outside doorbell!

There is a large refrigerator and freezer with ice for your use. The guest refrigerator/freezer is located in the hallway leading off the main dining room, and there are ice buckets in the same area. If you prefer, we are always happy to bring a bucket of ice to your room.

Our guest pantry, located in the fireplace dining room, is stocked with a selection of cookies, an espresso machine, and a small refrigerator with milk and cream. Help yourself any time, day or night!
